My garden
How I designed my garden to be tune in with the elements
Some images from my garden, from left to right: the spiral lawn (plus Fred the Labrador), the fire and air beds, a wild area where Ammi run rampant, the cutting garden, Malvern Dowsers dowsing the spiral, foxtail lilies and gorgeous rose Lark Ascending, the moon gate surrounded by teasels, sheep and hens in the orchard, the veg patch in early summer, the water bed – all silvers and purples, and a glimpse of the house.
I wanted my garden to reflect its beautiful location and its sense of place. There is something very magical about it, tucked away in rural Herefordshire with a view of the Malvern Hills in the distance. So I created a spiral lawn as a place of walking meditation, and dedicated each of the beds that surround it to a different element. Not only has this made it feel extra-magical but it really helps plan the planting and gives it structure. I love it anyway. Oh, and I open it for the National Garden Scheme. Not next year, though (2025) as I’m having a year off but in 2026 for sure.
